neck turning tool?
I need to turn the necks on some 6PPC cases that have become uneven in wall thickness.

I got no idea as to what brand, type or model neck turner I need or want.

Could someone shed some light on the topic and maybe give some reccomendations?

The Cadillac of the turning tools is the K&M. You can adjust down to the .0000" with the right dial indicator. Next best is the Sinclair. Neither cost much more than the Forster and others and they are well worth it. I have the Sinclair but I wish I had the K&M. Both have lots of accessories for theirs.

I bought the sincliar 3000 with the adjustment tool to do exactly the same thing. Turn 6ppc cases. I had used a lyman before and it sucked big time. The Sinclair worked Great! I've started turning a lot more cases since it is so easy to use. I bought the power screw driver adaptor -highly reccommended if you're doing more than 20 cases. If you're just doing a few don't bother. Don't know anything about the K&M.......DJ

Nielson, K&M, or Sinclair, don't bother with anything else.

I have the K&M, love it. Easily adjustable to the .0000" like Bob said, just work into it and come up on it slowely.

Ken's expandiron die and mandrel is the only way to go. His carbide fluted donut cuttin mandrel it sweet if you need it.

I lock the back of the mandrel on the turner in a 3/8 drill, then the drill clamped in the vice lightly, lock the case in the holder and go to town!

The back of the mandrels for the Sinclair unit are slightly longer I think, and would work well too.

My vote goes for the K&M Neck Turning Tool. In the heights of laziness, I have acquired 4 or 5 of them, one for each caliber I hand load for so I don't have to adjust mandrel from caliber to caliber.

Ken Markle advertises in Precision Shooting and Accurate Rifle. Outfits like Bruno's shooters's supply carry his neck turning tools also.

I have owned a Sinclair before but, the K&M's are the real deal.

Buy directly from Ken, it's no more expensive, he'll throw it all in a box and ship it out with the bill. 717-292-3175 - K&M Services
