swathseating depth remington model 7 .243
hello gents,
i was wondering if any one could give me some ideas with regards the seating depth of my model 7 remington.
i started loading for this rifle last week,
started off with some 95gr bt nozlers, i made up a dummy round with the bullet seated way out,
the plan was to chamber the dummy round and seat it deaper each time until i was happy it was in the ball park, when i chamberd it the first time to my surprise it chamberd and the bolt closed sweet as a nut, this was not the case with my cz 550 .243 i could not close the bolt until the bullet was seated deap in the case.
what do you do with that much free bore?
do i stick to max over all lenth in load manual?
any advise would be welcome.
thanks in advance guys

Load to about .020 short of the magazine length. This is about all you can do.
I have seen at least one 243 shoot better with a jump to the lands. In your case you no choice other than have the barrel removed and rechamber.

swaththanks dave!
do you think a crimp would help out?
that should at least give me a uniform start pressure, what do you think?
dont think i would have it rechamberd,
its only for hunting, and its shooting moa at 100yrds now anyway, so thats fine!
thanks for the info dave
kind regards
steve
