bad rcbs die ???
Ijust got a rcbs 338 ultra die.On the 2nd fl case sizing it didnt feel right and i broke the deprimer pin. Put in a new pin , looked into the end of the die and turned it by hand, wow, alot of wobble.Tried to resize another case and it was so far off center it wouldnt line up with the flash hole. Thinking about trying another rod out of a different die.

SR4759If it is a die with the bushing in the top you can often change the position of the rod as you tighten the jam nut. There is not much clearance for the pin in the flash hole so they are not just plug and play. Look at before you use it. If you can't get it in the center RCBS will replace it.
You might check your brass and make sure the flash holes are centered in the case. If they are off you can punch the primers out by hand with a Lee hand punch and never break another decapper.
sr4759, thanks i,ll play with it and see what happens. howard

Andre MertensI remember having bought an oval rifle FL sizer from RCBS some 3 decades ago. The die was replaced with no fuss, though.

BlacktailerYou might try this-
Lube up a case and run it slowly into the die. As you run it up see if you can fish around until the decap pin enters the flash hole (this is much easier if you have a case that is already deprimed).
When you get the case fully into the die and the decap pin is in the flash hole, tighten the collar that locks the decap rod. This will usually center the decap rod and you should have no more problems.

Blacktailor you are spot on! I also do this with the RCBS dies set and never had any misallignment. It could also help if you put a second lock screw on the decapping stem.
