I just learned this over at the Big Game board: go to Nosler, then to the ballistics room. I had trouble printing the data out, but that could be my printer.

Check the discussions about CZ 550 and 9.3x62 at riflesmithing. Ray Atkinson told me some recipes. Also Pygmy has experience, You could ask him for data.

The current Speer manual lists a few loads for their 270 grain semi-spitzer; 56.0 of H414 for 2388 fps, up to 60.0 grains MAX for 2583 fps.
60.0 grs of IMR4350 for 2486 up to 64.0 grains MAX for 2550 fps.

There have been several articles written on the 9.3x62 in both Rifle and Handloader magazines and I do know that John Barsness currently has an article in the works as well. So data is out there.

Ray will probably respond shortly with the Mother of all 9.3x62 loads that works in all 9.3x62's and you will be all set. He is a real fan of the cartridge and has hunted with it extensively.

Try RL15 with about any bullet weight. I shot 3 holes well under an inch with a friend's Steyr SBS, RL15, 270 Speer. I think he got the load from the Finn Aagard 9.3x62 article in Handloader magazine a couple years ago.

Yesterday I scanned through my collected 9.3x62 loading data. I have no data on the real heavies, but otherwise Rayï¿½s data is more conservative than otherï¿½s. In power selection heï¿½s right on:

The "best suited" powders seem to be Rl 15, 4064 and H 414. Did not check Norma. Lapua gives one load with VV N135, although very weak. VV N 140 and my favourite 4350 should be worth trying. We need more data on VV 500 series! From powder burning speed N 540 or N 550 should be right on?

I've been using V-540 with the 250 grains Barnes X. I'm using 62.0 grains and the velocity is 2580 fps. I'm using a Blaser r-93 and even though there's no indications of high pressure in my gun you should be careful in using this load since it's way over Vihtavouris recommendations. It produces group that are well beneath 1 moa.

I've shoot five mooses with this load and couldnt be more pleased.

Just did some emailing with Lapua/Sako. They admitted that they did not much attention to the 9.3x62 and 8x68S lately.

They, too, think that VV 540 and 550 should fit the 9.3x62, whereas the 8x68S would benefit from VV 560.

They promised to do some research, and to let me know of some loads. If they do that, and if they agree, I would post that data.

I have worked up to 68 grs of VV-N550 under the 250 Barnes X in my FN 9.3x62. The load is compressed and is giving .0005" greater pressure ring (not case head) expansion than the factory Norma load. I will drag out the chronograph soon and see what the velocity is. Plan to use the load in RSA (one of Ray's hunts) next June on game up to eland.

Barnes X 250 grain 63.5 grains of AR2209 Federal primer & Norma brass for sub MOA out of a Sauer 200. Haven't chronographed it but suspect about 2500 fps.

Very deadly on game from goats to Fallow deer to Red deer. May use it on Sambar, although considering factory 293 grain RWS TUG.
