which powder
if you were only allowed just 2 powders to load everything you had, what would they be?

Alberta Canuck
FFg and W-846.

Certainly not ideal for most, if any, cartridges, but workable from small pistol to huge rifle, with shotgun in between.

IMHO
H4895 (or IMR 4064)- Good for 223 through 375 H&H magnum
4350 - for the large case small bores

RL-22 and RL-15 would give me a wide range of loads from my .243 WSSM up to my .416 Rigby. Good shooting.

Benchmark plus H4831 or VV N160.

I wouldn't do it . archer . I suppose one could reload with a single powder how ever not effectively by any stretch .
I fail to understand the question or reasoning behind it myself .

My preferred powders would be 4064, 3031, 4350 and 4831.
I could live with 4350, 4895.

As much as I love IMR4064 I have found H4895 to be just as good and easier to mearsure. Heavy rounds would probably be H4350 or Rl22.

I couldn't see "getting by" with less than five perhaps six powders.

If you feel like asking what are my favorite two I can't or more precisely WON'T answer that either.

I like RL7 for cartridges ranging from
223 to 45-70.
Benchmark for 40gr bullets from my 223.
IMR4064 and RL19 for one of my 30-06 rifles
RL19 and IMR4350 for m 6.5x55
IMR3031 is NEARLY irreplaceable for my 30-30, but I suppose if I had to I could "get by" with either RL12 or RL15

and this doesn't even discuss my other 30-06
or my 7mmMag.

It's like the question that seems to come up about getting by with only three rifles.

If I am restricted to having only three rifles for shooting people who ask stupid questions THAT question I am
willing to entertain....

I was once told by a Salty old Chief petty officer "that the only stupid question is the one you don't ask" I have learned in the past 27years that he was wrong.

Varget and RL 22 But I don't see how I could get by with less than three or four powders. The Varget and RL 22 are for rifles. I still have to reload for my pistols.

Rifle? I could live w/ H4350 & IMR7828.
Handgun? Unique & H110. Limited to only two powders for everything, H4350 & Unique.

1. I gotta have something very slow for my magnums, .25-06, and .270. Ideally for many of them the powder would be slower, but I could live with H-4831 or even IMR 7828.

2. I gotta have a "medium" burner for my .22 Centerfires (.222 through .22-250) and smaller capacity medium bores (.308, 8x57, .30-30, etc.) Either of the 4895s would do passably well here.

3. That leaves the .22 Hornet, K-Hornet, 7.62x39, and .25-20 without a home, so I just can't make it on only two powders.

Unique and IMR 4895. Wouldn't be happy, but I could make 'em work...
