LabmanNeed load data from Nosler manual
Can someone help me out with some data from the Nosler manual? I'm working up a load for my cousin and I need some max. charge weights for the 270 Winchester caliber 150 Gr. Nosler Partition bulet using H-4831sc powder. Obviously, I'll start lower and work my way up looking for a sweet spot.
Thanks

FjoldNosler No. 3
EDITBig mistake! Two of my pages were stuck together and I read the data for the 270 Weatherby magnum.
Thanks Ol'Joe!! Please delete the powder charge amounts from your quote of my post as I don't want anyone to read that to think that it is correct.
The Nosler No. 3 Manual does not list a load for the 270 Winchester using the 150 grain bullets and H4831 powder.
Thanks again Joe, good catch!

Don`t know what this data is for but, I`d stay within 51-55 gr with a 150gr in the 270 Win. (from the Nosler #4,5,and 6th editions)

txhunter77Hold up there a minute!
Labman. Which 270 are you refering to, the 270win or the 270wsm?
Fjold. It would appear that the load you listed is for the WSM. If that is the case it is unlikely that the starting load would fit into the case, and if it did, the results would be less than desirable. As in, the very least a stuck bolt, blown case head, and potentialy chunks of brass being blown into the face of the shooter.

416RigbyHunterNosler No.6 manual suggests 55gr max with 150gr bullets, but I have worked up to another max out of another manual that was for 60gr's max. I am using 59gr's as my max in my Ruger M77, which was perfectly safe in my rifle.

LabmanIt's the old fashioned, plain jane 270 Winchester. It's not a WSM. Don't worry FJOLD, I recognized those loads as excessive as soon as I saw them. I've loaded for the 270 Win. for over 40 years, so I'm quite familiar with the cartridge. I just don't have a Nosler manual and I wanted bullet specific loading data. I don't want to go over recommended max loads in stuff I'm loading for another person (my cousin).
416 Rigby = thanks for the data. I also load for the 416 Rigby and found both Hodgdon and IMR 4831 work well. I've used the 400 Gr. Barnes solid with good results on Elephant.

aliveinccLabman, you can get current Nosler load data from their website.

LabmanAliveincc- I checked their website, but the data is limited and they don't show any loads using H-4831. I'm sure they show much more in their manual.

aliveinccGo to the hodgdon website. It has loads for H4831.

aliveinccTom, in handloader #231, John Barsness list max load for 270 Win of 57g H4831SC for 150g bullets. Hope this helps.
