Well, when I was a kid my dad gave me a .244 Remington. I shot everything that I could with 85 grain Sierra's and 90 grain Speer's. (Including a huge mule deer in Wyoming!)

I now relegate the 244 Remington to varmint hunting.

My favorite bullet by far is the Sierra 80 grain Blitz. I have shot about everything in the way of bullets, believe me. The 80 grain Sierra Blitz is the standout. My rifle is actually a little more accurate with the Sierra 70 grain HPBT. However the Blitz bullet is a much better performer on varmints. (Much more consistant in terminal performance.)

My wife and I shot a lot of deer and she shot several antelope with the 243.
We used 100 gr Sierra, and 95 gr Nosler Partitions.
In TX we used mostly 40 gr of IMR 4350.
In Wyoming we used 42 GR of IMR 4350.
Both powder charges with both bullets.
Both loads shot good in a Ruger No1, and a Remington Model 7.

The Model 7 would shoot groups at 300 yards inside a coffee cup.
And that was with a 4X scope.
Probably never should have sold that rifle, but I moved her up to a 308 when we got a deer lease with pigs on it.

I use my .243 almost exclusively for varmints. Favorite load is 60gr Sierra hollowpoint over 45.0gr H380. Shoots into about a 1/4" at 100 yds at about 3,700fps. Absolutely devastating on groundhogs, crows, coyotes, etc.

60-grain Sierra hollowpoint at 3700 fps, 40.5 grains of Varget.

I also shoot a 95-grain Nosler BT with 33.5 grains of Varget, just under 3000 fps.

100 grain Sierra GameKing over 41.0 Rel 19. Very accurate in my Savage Sporter. I haven't used it against game yet, but it was bought as a deer rifle.

Ive gotten the best accuracy with my 243 win with barnes TSX but havent tried them on game yet. Last year I got deer and antelope with 95gr SST loaded with I3450, 42 or 43 grains if I remember correctly. Also very accurate but a little destructive if hit in the wrong areas. SST shoot better in my Tikka T3 than NBT for some reason.

I have a savage 110 that shoots well with every bullet I've tried (even factory), but I like Hornady 75 grain HP for target shooting. H4350 works great, H414 works great and I just tried a load with IMR4895 that works well too with the first load I tried. That rifle is just easy.

Really! 4895 in the .243? What kind of load are you shooting? I just bought 8 lbs of 4895 for .30-06, but if it shoots good in the .243, I might have to try some.

I use 85 gr sierra hollowpoints with 43 gr of 4350. I haven't chronographed but I am guessing around 3000 out of my 24 inch barrel.

I use the 85 gr sierra or 87 gr hornady out of a 22 in barrel,@ 3178fps.Have taken deer out 300+ yds,Let one of my brothers use it last year and he took 4 with it useing the 85 sierra.
I like showing this target off if I live to be 165,will probably never do it again.I did come close with a 100 gr bullet though(bottom target)
