W 748 Powder 257 Roberts load
I just came into some extra W748 powder. Does anyone know of any loads for the 257 roberts? Is this a good powder for this caliber?

Speer #12 lists 43.0 grains of the 748 to be max with their 87 grain bullets. Starting load is 39 grains. Data for the 85 grain Noslers should be similar.

These numbers are for the "+p" .257 Roberts. This data is considered by Speer to be too hot for other than modern rifles.

This is going in a Ruger Model 77. I have a ton of 100gr & 120gr Sierra spitzers to load... any more data would be helpful...

For the 100's:
W-748 From 36.0 grains to 38.0 grains
Remington 9-1/2 Primer

No good for anything heavier than 100.

depending on how you want to load it.. to 58k is the +p, 748 will do OKAY.. Mine likes 760 much better for 117 and 120 bullets.

Normally, I would offer a quickload, but i KNOW quickload's 748 loads to be univerally higher is pressure and vel than any other powder it has. This flaw was reported back, and it's supposed to be fixed. QL and 748 has you blowing up guns with starting loads from wincester...

rl19 is much better choice.
