TCLouisTwo different manuals state 0.608 for 45-70.
Cant find anything with 50-70 information at the moment.

jackfish.608" is the rim diameter for the 45-70. The head diameter is .5055" or .505" depending on the source. The head diameter for the 50-90 Sharps is .565".

hawkins"Cartridges of the world" lists the 50/70 government as habing a base diameter of 0.565 in. The 45/70 is liated as being 0.608.

You can take the numbers with a grain of salt.
The actual measurements for a .45-70 are a little smaller than listed and I do not have a 50/90 case.
The .45-70s usually measure .498 to .502 on the head and .600 to .602 on the rim.
The single .50-70 (seventy) case I have measures .565 on the head and .667 on the rim.

conchoI have a R.P loaded 45/70 and the head is .498 / The Rim is .603 , I have 50/110 Starline Brass here and the Head is .544 The Rim is .602 Hawkins Take a little time to read the measurements .
