deep penetrating, A-frame, Fail Safes,Barnes

Anyone tried any tough bullets and gotten good accuracy? Any bullets known for accuracy over the others?PLEASE TELL!

I have found the A-Frames to shoot the "smallest" groups, followed by the Barnes TSX and Bear Claws.

I've had no luck with Fail Safes, either on paper or game.

The North Fork bullet is your huckleberry if you want toughness and accuracy. I have shot them all extensively from 7mm up to .416.

378 wby ma....113 gr H4831, 270 Barnes XLC 3120 fps and .065" at 100 yds!

272 gr Grooves bullet at 3100 fps also .23" at 100 yds

Some 30 cal Groovies 159 gr at 3600 fps (300 rum)

PS I like the Northforks and I would use them if they did not have the BC of a brick!

I like my one hole groups that I shoot with my bricks, and I am not a moderator for North Fork Bullets. I have made shots with the North Forks out to 350 yards and that is as far as I need to shoot.

I am not a moderator for Barnes, Nosler or Hornady either but I use the X's, interbonds and accubonds. Awesome bullets.

Try Barnes Tripleshocks. Very good accuracy and excellent on game performance.

I have a .300 Win mag that wants 180 or 200 grain Nosler Partitions or the North Forks, I have a 7mm STW that likes the 160 grain Barnes XLC or the North Forks. My .416 Rem likes the 400 grain Hornadys or the 370 grain North Forks. My .338 Lapua likes the 250 grain Barnes X or 240 grain North Forks. Do you see a pattern here, they all like the North Forks and other bullets as well. I am not a one bullet man, however when you shoot many chamberings and try all the bullets available and the rifles do the talking, I have to listen. I shoot 3000 plus rounds per year on my private range with my rifles and those of my buddies who don't get the kick out of it I do, this is my hobby (after my tennis knees gave out) and it doesn't take long to find that most accurate hunting bullet. I just like to shoot, have a buddy that likes it as much as I do who also is a skillfull rifle builder (checkering is his passion). We spend several hours each week comparing bullets, powders, brass, primers, etc. It doesn't take long for the cream to come to the top. I am not just a shooter, I hunt Colorado each year for Elk, have taken Brown Bear, Moose and Caribou in Alaska, will hunt Africa this year. All my shooting is to have the best bullet for the animal I happen to be hunting, then hope for the best.

I too have to go along with the Northforks for toughness and accuracy. I also have had great luck and accuracy with Barnes. I am also a big fan of the Nosler partitions for non dangerous game but wouldn't hesitate to use them if I didn't have good luck with Northforks or Barnes.

Barnes Triple Shocks (TSX) have worked great for me. I've tried the 180 gr. North Forks, but they didn't shoot as well. However, they did shoot well enough.

I never tried the Northforks. My best buddy was trying for a year to get them to shoot in 2 300 WBY's and finally gave up on the bricks. I will stick to my Barnes TSX XLC and others.

Every rifle has different tastes in bullets. The joy/sorrow of reloading is you have to try different ones to see what 'ole Betsy favors. That said, my rifles favor N/P's and Barnes TSX's in 30 caliber and less, and Swifts and Failsafes in .338 and larger.
Have fun working up a load.
