Tex21Best powder for the .303 Brit?
Gentlemen,
Is there a powder that will sufficiently fill up the case without pushing a 174 grn bullet faster than 2440 fps? I have a fairly accurate Varget load I use that regulates well fairly well, but lately I've been wanting to experiment a little more. I am going to pick up some Re-19 and Re-22 to load in my Swede on my next powder run. Would these be good candidates for the Brit as well?
Thanks,

sirwilliamI have used a lot of H4350, H414, and IMR 4064 in 303. 45grs of 4350 0r 414 will give you a good vel. I have leaned towords 414 for most of my 303 loadings, and 45grs has worked in more then one rifle for me. I think every second hunter here has a 303 in his gun collection.

seafire/B17GWel based on its closeness to the 30/40 Krag....
For accuracy and reduced recoil, I actually load 25 grains of SR 4759 powder...less stress on the rifle... with old actions that might have some weak spots...and also it fills the case relatively full...
accuracy is excellent also....
I find the faster powders work wonders... as opposed to the trendy obsession of slow powders to hold down pressure...
cheers

I use RL-15 in my 303 British rifles.
Use it in 300 Savage and 308 as well.

R-15 works well for me w/174/180 pills. Here's a good site:

El DeguelloI have been using IMR 4350 with excellent results in the 303 for bullets above 150 grains...... Same in the .30/40 Krag. These two are almost identical, except that the Krag has a longer neck.
