Any one load the Weatherby 270 Mag? I am loading for a BIL using 130 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. What powder & primer do you use? Thanks

Daniel I would like to suggest you consider a bullet that is a little tougher. That ballistic tip is going to be a bomb @ Wby velocitys. I have found Barnes TTSX to be much more suitable. If you want to stick with Nosler bullets use the Accubond or Partition. CCI 250 primers and IMR 7828 work well in my Wby. Hope that helps.

i think too that the nosler bt is to fragile in my 270 i use H4831 and a 150 partition, with whatever primer i have

I use a Sierra SBT for deer in mine behind 72.3 gr of H4831 and fed 215 primer. Started working with IMR 7828 but sold the property where I could use a rifle so didn't fully develop the load. Some will say the Sierra is too explosive but worked for me and never lost a deer.

I'm getting great accuracy with the 130 NBT using IMR 7828 (standard or SSC)or RE25. Fed 215 primers are what I use. This is a long range cartridge. If you look at any exterior ballistics chart you will see that velocity will bleed off at range to an acceptable level for your chosen bullet to perform. If you intend on busting brush with this round or jump shooting creek bottoms I agree there may be better options than the NBT.
Another powder to try would be RE26. I haven't loaded any yet but the data looks promising and the copper fouling reducer would be greatly appreciated at cleaning time.
Good luck and let us know how it works out.

I'm loading 67.5g of h4831 with 150gr TSX for deer. This load is very accurate and deadly on deer.

Mine was a little touchy about which bullets it liked, but I get great results with 130 Ballistic-tips, 140 Ballistic Tips, 140 Accubonds (sort of settled on that one) and 130 grain TSXs. IMR7828 for all of them, and believe it or not 73 grains for all the loads.

Probably the most overlooked caliber in history, and it shoots flatter than a lazer strike..Kills all out of proportion to its name..Never owned one, but know some guys that do..

Nosler bullets, or monolithics are needed, RL-19,22 and probably 25 work and of course the H and IMR-4831 always works on big bores and one might want to take a look at H1000. Im a pracital guy so I would use 130s on deer size game and 150s on the larger stuff, and that 150 Nosler will knock the stuffen out of an elk..Everyone Ive seen shot with that bullet just fell down on the spot...

Im a believer in magnum primers in magnum rifles so I would use Federal 215 primers.

I would certainly invest in a Reloading book, as not a lot of folks know much about it.....
