I recently purchased a used Hollywood Senior Press, this is a large very imposing press that seems to be built very well. There are no documents that came with this press and I have no history about the press or the company. I was trying to find out info and happen to see some of these presses for sale on E-Bay. They look similar to mine but mine seems to have a larger window, the linkage is different and it is all aluminum, with the base and column being one piece, the top is a seperate part that I believe is screwed on with a large nut that also has internal threads for something, no idea.The paint is crinkle finish but it is flaking off to the touch. Can anybody give me any information why my Senior press is different than what I have seen out there, are there more than one model of Senior press? What is the presses reputation?

I don't know if they are still in business but they were know as Hollywood Engineering and made bullet swagging equipment besides dies and the famous press that you have. They also made commercial press also.

I use and have used the same press that you have in your foto for 48 years. It is still my go to press. Recently at the Orange County Gun Show an old fella like me had a booth and he is now making the Hoolywood Presses. He is in the LA area but sadly I lost his card. Are there better presses? Maybe, but mine has lasted me nearly a life time.Let me know if you need any help. The one you have looks very serviceable.Keep the slide cylinder lubrcated with a light coat of Bardahl. Use light weight machine oil in fittings and bushings. Check aligning screw in rear about every month or so depending on use.You may want to use a graphited grease in the screw bearing area. Lyle Corcoran owned Hollywood Gun Shop, way back when. I have a pic on a CD of his rig used at the Grand American Trapshoot. Slide out metal play which couls be turned to show all his presses. Top of the line was the super progressive shotshell tool. His shotshell dies would load Federal paper cases as good as new. Started with the senior but made of cast steel(?). Had a Senior Turret set up for shotshell which Lyle gave me, different story. Hollywood also made a few chronographs which used strips of aluminum foil as make and break screens. If it was made by HGS, it was top quality. XSHTR

I have been using one since dirt was put on earth....I also have a A-2 RCBS....Problem with the Hollywoods, your limited to 06 length cases pretty much...You can load 375s for instance but your crowded so I have two presses.

I have seen some Seniors for sale on E-Bay that look shorter than mine, judging from your response I believe there were more than one height made, I may be wrong about this! I went ahead and measure my window with a die inserted in the full resize position w/ the die touching the shellholder at full up stroke and took a measurement between my Rockchuker and the Hollywood Senior. The Rockchuker is 3.375 and the Senior is 4.25", almost a full inch taller window, it will easily load 375 H&H length cartridges, is it possible yours is smaller? Man what a beast of a press this is, I haven't set it up or loaded with it yet, is it easier to size cases compared to the Rockchuker.
