Brentpbrass from bulk m855 and m193 good to reload?
Does the surplus m855 and m193 sold by Federal both use the same Lake City case? And is it good for reloading?
Thanks,
The ammo is generally production over run. If it's sold as XM193 or XM855 it was rejected for Military use but safe to fire, it may not have met accuracy or velocity standards.
In either case the brass is the same and good to reload.
It will be perfect to reload; of course, deal with the primer crimp.

BrentpThank you for the replies.
Someone had mentioned to me that the brass was not the same LC stuff on the xm193 as it is on the xm855 and I just wanted to confirm before making a purchase.

Samuel_HoggsonWhy guess? Weigh a few samples of each type. An internal capacity check is not a big deal, either.
People often assume the only differences between 5.56/.223 brass relate to commercial vs military. Not so. Manufacturer and lot/date stamp related variations in brass capacity can be an eye-opener. I now do - at minimum - a weight check on all rifle cartridge brass.
Overkill, perhaps, if you are nowhere near maximum. But prudent if you are working toward max.
