Need A Recipe For A Mild 243 Load
Hi all

Can someone with more loading experience post a Mild .243 Winchester recipe for 60 gr Sierra hollowpoints and AA 2520 Powder?

I would like to stay below 3200 fps (The max speed listed for the sierra 60 gr bullet)

Thanks In advance,

Varmint Coop

The Accurate manual lists that particular combination with a starting load of 38 gr for a velocity of 3376 fps. You should be able to drop that 5% and see the speed you're looking for. - Dan

Varmintcoop,

Are you sure on the velocity limit? Federal used to use this bullet in their 243 premium at 3,600fps to good effect.

Anyhow I used the Lee 60gr data for H322 for 3,200fps. Let me know if you want it.

I have found the IMR4895 and XMR5744 are both reduced load tolerant in the 243.

I like the IMR4895 reduced by 10 gr the best.
It prints about 6" lower at 100 meters.
