krakySwiss 7.5x55--best loads please?
Just got one of those wonderful K31 surpluss rifles. What a nice piece of workmanship for the days it was built in!! I've got some brass coming and am wondering if anyone has 150 & 165 accuracy loads. The bore on this rifle appears perfect and I'm dieing to get to work loading for it.

lonniemikeYou should find many good loads with many powders. Experiment with whatever powders you already have on hand. I like to use 165-8 weights since it is slightly less than the 174grain weight of the military bullet. Sierra's and somebody else's pet load for 165-8 grain bullets is IMR4064 @ 43.9gr. Sierra shows a max charge for them of 45.8gr w/4064& 165-8 bullets. Work up your loads from reduced charges. You'll probably find that a reduced charge of about 37g-4064 will give excellent accuracy also. The SwissRifleForum has a number of pet loads listed for the schmidt-rubins. Best-o-Luck

cummins cowboywhose got the best price on some rcbs dies in 7.5 swiss does anyone know
Hi, a lot of knowledgeable people who are swiss rifles shooters on the swiss firearms board here:
http://www.gunboards.com/forums/http://swissriflewebsite.com/SwissRifleForumFavoriteHandloads.htmThe immage shows how the .284/308 wild cat dies would be a better fit than the 7.5 Swiss dies from Lee, but I hear that Hornady has just reamed the neck on dies still stamped "284" and sold them as 7.5 Swiss.
My own personal loads are not much:
7.5mm Swiss, K-31, 284 brass sized with Lee die, CCI200
1) 168 gr Sierra .308 Match King
a) 42 gr IMR4895 ok, kinda wimpy
b) 45.5 gr IMR4895, ok, primer starting too flatten, 4" group open
sights
2) 189 gr cast w/gas check, .3095
a) 28 gr IMR4895, ok, 10" group open sights
