Is anyone making 6.5-06 brass now?

The wildcat 6.5-'06 was picked up as a SAAMI standard and is now known as the 6.5-'06 A-Square, so I feel confident that they are making the brass with the new A-Square headstamp. I also would hazard a guess that the brass with that lofty headstamp will cost a bazillion times the cost of good old, salt-of-the-earth, .30-'06 Springfield brass.
If you have a press and a set of 6.5-'06 dies, just use some sizing wax and run .30-'06 brass through your FL sizing die and you'll have all of the 6.5-'06 brass your heart could desire and at essentially no cost.
There is no difference between the length to the shoulder, shoulder diameter, or shoulder angle between the .30-'06 and the 6.5-'06, so it's actually just a simple neck down.

Someone out there would know better than me, and I hope someone else chimes in here. I've been told that 25-06 brass makes for an easier forming operation. Does anybody know if that is true?

I find 25-06 works better for me than larger calibers.

You are absolutely correct. It is easier to run a .25-'06 through a 6.5-'06 die than to use a .30-'06 case. The difference is necking up by 0.007" or necking down by 0.044". It is also true that .25-'06 brass is more expensive than .30-'06 brass given the ready availbility of military brass for almost free. It becomes a matter of how many you intend to make and if time is more important than money. Dealers choice.

25/06 up or 270 down, I've used both and if I'm fireforming I like to go down in size. I get a better seat against the bolt that way.

I wanted to use Lapua brass so I went with the 30-06 brass. I called Sinclair and was told to just run em through the 6.5 sizer...I decided to use my .270 die with the expander removed as an intermediate step...my chamber is not so tight as to create neck thickness problems.
