Accuracy and Penetration Tests now online !!
Gentlemen,

I finally got some 7mm Rem Mag penetration and accuracy tests online. We tested the loads in wet phone books, which I know is NOT the same as a game animal, but it's what we have available.

Nothing too shocking, but I hope you find it worth looking at.

Check it out at www.slatesafaris.com/7mm.htm

Click on where it says to...

Thanks for visiting..

Very interesting, JR. It would be informative to try the same test with some lighter bullets, especially some of the Nosler Ballistic Tips, since they seem to inure so much controversy.

StoneCreek,

I agree, some lighter bullets would be very interesting. I have a pile of 139 gr. SST and some 140 gr. Ballistic tip and partition bullets that I would love to try.

There is one small problem, I am leaving next Sunday for Africa, and I'm not too sure when I'm coming back. Maybe I'll have the chance to try a few over there.

I also tested a the following loads:

.300 Ultra Mag-180 gr. Barnes "X"
.300 Ultra Mag-180 gr. Nosler Partition
.30-06-165 Gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip
.30-06-180 gr. Nosler Partition
.303 British-180 gr. Trophy Bonded Bear Claw
.303 British-174 gr. Hornady Interlock
.45-70 400 Gr. Speer
.45-70 405 Gr. Remington SP
.45-70 350 Gr.Hornady Interlock FP

I hope to have them online in the next few days, so keep checking back...

Joel,

I have heard that the Remington 405FP for the 45-70 holds together well at enhanced velocities. I'm looking forward to your photos and data.

Good reading Joel! We could use more of that sort of thing here. Nice work!
