Bergera nifty trick probably not new
I was just doing some 375 reloading with my rock chucker and found I had lost my small funnel that I use to place measured powder from the scale to the shell so I went down to the local store and bought a matching pair of cheap mustard and ketchup dispensers - the yellow and red plastic ones with the removable white tops. the tops make great funnels and when you put the powder in the other it makes a great dispenser. Probably not a new idea but it really works!

Swamp_FoxSome plastics can build up a static charge.
You might want to check before using it too much.

ColoradoMattI wouldn't worry about a static charge with that little mass of plastic. Don't use it for Black powder though.

BergerI don't think static charge would be a problem with these small containers. the nice thing about them is you can "squeeze" just the right amount of powder in and when I overcharge the scale I scoop out a small amount and put it in the one I'm using the lid from. Its certainly speeded up my loading...

ClemTo reduce static store your empty plastic containers with a used dryer sheet in them. It'll also make your bench smell real purdy.

ColoradoMattYou can declare B.S. all you want. However, black powder measures are not made of plastic for a reason.

Fair enough. I don't know much, and i only load about 25 lbs of BP a year and have for the past 8 years. I use Lee dippers (Plastic) end Lee perfect powder measure also plastic.
Let us hear, has anybody heard of anybody that has had an accident with BP and power hoppers, funnels, dippers and such made of plastic?
I brought proof of the myth that BP and static is a big problem. You turned it down so bring me proof of the opposite please!

BergerInteresting challenge Dane!

hawkinsThe Dane: If anyone had trouble with a measure full of black powder, you probably wouldn't hear from them.
There is a reason that Black Powder has a graphite coating. No virginia it isn't to
"water proof" it.
Take care!

There are lots of commercial PLASTIC black powder containers, funnels, measuring devices and flasks around. And they have been in use for years. Black powder shooters have a great store of this kind of legendary crap around as do most of the other shooting sports. Nearly EVERY speedloader tube in the world is PLASTIC! Millions. Where is the BS?

BergerOh, I'm sure no one else has ever done this but I couldn't resist. Just dropped in after two weeks and found my last post on page eleven so I thought I'd bump it up to number one just to get a final reply... Of course I'm just surfing through AR and bored mind you, nevertheless....

skb2706Sounds like the 'makins for a good ole' Mythbusters to me. Can we make it blowup with static from plastic parts or is it an urban legend not supported by fact ?
26 January 2006, 03:16
HairtriggerI firmly believe when my time is up IT IS UP!
If I am using a plastic or metal or glass container for my powder
I am one gun away from being happy
26 January 2006, 08:53
BergerI think you are right. They've probably all been blown away by the static discharge coming from the African Hunting forum

Bergerseafire/b17g I don't get it...
27 January 2006, 19:47
gixxerWOW! That is a good idea. I thought others would offer some other neat ideas, but instead we get PEE!!

Heck, I use a Chinet paper bowl filled with powder, and a plastic spoon to "meter" my powder into the scale, which happens to be the cheapest RCBS model available. I dont even have a funnel to get the powder from the scale to the brass, I use the pan that hangs on the scale to get it in there! The 375 is not too difficult, but try that with 7mm's!

Berger,
The arguing over this, reminds me of Andy Capp and Flo... I am sure you get that in the papers down in RSA....Reminded me of a husband and wife, love/hate relationship....
Want to see people arguing over nothing, check out the political forum....
hope that clears it up for you...
