sksshooter270wsm powder
im fixing to start working up a load for my model 70 270wsm. ive got a lb of R22 and R19 will be putting it under 150gr nbt's with wlrm primers in win brass. from what im seeing in the book the R22 is a little faster but wanted to see what others have had bette luck with.

Antelope SniperThe sharper the bottle neck, the slower the powder you will need to use....for most applications, between the two, I'd go with the RL22.

phurley5I have tried all powders reccomended for the .270 WSM and the three stand outs for my two rifles are RL-22, RL-25 and Magpro. My 130 grain bullets get the RL-22 and Magpro and the 140 grainers the RL-25. I use the Federal 210-M primers for all loads. Good shooting.
I wouldn't rule out H1000.
Steve's pages show Re25 to be best with his testingMagpro, H1000, and Retumbo show the highest grains tested. There is evidence that Retumbo is the most temperature stable powder on the market.

ghostrider272What velocities are you getting?

homebrewerI use 65 grains of RL-22 in my 300WSM. I use the 180-grain Sierra MatchKing. I get tight groups at 2900-plus fps. I really like that powder. I also use 65 grains of H4831SC and the same bullet. Again, nice groups. Both are excellent powders...

thndrchikenI've gotten the best velocities with RE22, the best accuracy with H4831SC but lowest velocity and the best accuracy/speed with IMR4350.

sksshooteri loaded up 10 rounds last night with re22. i started at the bottom and went in .5g increments. i know i read the audettes ladder is usually done with 20 rds but that just seems a little overkill with the small charge range. i think i started at 56g and the max was 61 i would have had to go in .2 g incrememnts to get 20 rounds. first things first though ive got to lighten the trigger on my rifle between now and then. i don't have a chrono but ill report back if i can remember to take a pic of the target.
