I'm looking for a powder for 100gr bullets in my .243 ,Hodgden is the most easily available I've used varget and H380 for 55gr-75gr I think that H414 or H4350 will do the job but what do you guys think.also I've noted that varget is a much cleaner burning than H380 which I like, is there any problems like that with the two powders I've mentioned.

IMR4350 is a classic for this one, so if you like Hodgdon then H4350 should be the one to go to first.

H-4831SC is also a fine Hodgdon choice for this load.

I've had good results with H-4831 with both 85 and 100 gr. bullets.

I have had good results with AA3100 with both 95 and 100g noslers

Generally the go to powder for the .243 with 95 or 100 gr. bullets is IMR-4350. But any of the 4350's (IMR, H, or Accurate) should work well, as well as H-4831, Reloder 22 or other slower burning powder. Too bad the old H-450 isn't available anymore. It was my favorite for 100 gr bullets in the .243 and metered like a dream..

The greatest velocity is likely to be got by RL22 or MRP.

I happened to have H4350 when I got my 243 so that is what I used, and still do. Winchester brass, CCI primer, Speer 100gr BTSP and 43 grains of H4350, makes pretty little patterns on paper and kills Sika hinds no problem

If you want velocity and accuracy, I have found that H 414/W 760 are superior to H 4350 or IMR 4350...

It is listed as a ball powder equivalent to 4350, but you can get a little more powder in the case based on lack of bulk...

Hodgdon's 25th manual shows a load of 43 grains for an MV of 3087 with a CUP pressure of 51100. They info for their 4350 is 43 grains for an MV of 2994 with the same pressure listed...

I load several of my Ruger and Winchester 243s with the same powder but with 44 grains of H 414 and get a MV of 3250 out of the Winchester, and 3100 out of the 22 inch barrel Rugers. The Winchester has a 24 inch barrel.

I agree, W 760 was the best I found. it also measures well!

Most of the .243's I've worked with liked powders slower than 4350 with 100 grain bullets. H4831 and IMR 7828 are about right. RL-22/N205 is great, but you never know just what speed a particular lot is going to be. Buy plenty at one time if you use this powder.

I use H4831 (46 grs and remington 100 gr coreloc with fed 210 pri.when shooting 100 gr bullets Below is a target I shot this week @300 yds top is with an 85 gr sierra and Imr 4350.
The pic didn't come out too god but 2 in one hole and one to the right.top group is 1.584 and bottom is .478 in.

A call to Nosler tells me VV560 is the most accurate powder, hard to get around here, so the next best thing was RE22(42.5grs.), IMR4350 was Mike's next choice, being really close to RE22. Jay
