.338 WM necked up to 9.3
anybody ever tried this. Seems like a lot of folks like that 9.3X62. Seems like using that 9.3 bullet in a magnum case would be a lot better. Maybe the perfect bear cartridge. Not to big, not too small. Not too hot, not too cold. Just right.

You will just have created the 9.3x64 with a belted case. I have used the 458 Win and 338 Win case to make 9.3x64 cases. You turn the belt off rebate the rim slightly and recut the extractor groove.Run that case through the 9.3x64 size die load it and shoot it.
I have to agee with you about the 9.3x64 being just about the perfect cartridge. A slick feeding rimless case, power of a 375 H&H and it all fits in std length action . Sweet!

Gents why go throught the hasle of turning off belt cases and all that trouble. Neck down the 375 ruger case and you can load down to 9.3x64 velocitys or you can also stoke them and be in the big bore arena. All this and in a standard length action and no belt.

Or just leave it a .375 Ruger.....only difference is .009" bullet diameter!

One can also just go with the .358 Norma Mag......008" difference.....or the .375 Taylor.....

Absolutely no need for wildcatting here!

I don't know anything about the .375 Ruger. Is the case head the exact same diameter as a regular winchester magnum case. I was thinking 9.3 X 338 because you wouldn't have to do a thing to the bolt head. Just barrel it up and go.

There is an extensive article on "Wildcatting the 9.3" in the Handloader's Digest 17th edition. The author necked up Federal 338 Win.Mag brass to 9.3 and called his wildcat the 9.3 U.S.A. He stated the water capacity was 81.2 grs, as compared to 79 gr. in the 9.3x64 case. The big advantage was the use of easily obtained 338 Win. Mag brass.
