.45 ACP bullets in a .45 long colt
ive got a TON of .45 fmj 230 grain bullets that i got from my brother, but i dont have a .45 ACP gun. i do have a SRH .454 that i shoot alot and that ive been reloading for.

i threw one of the roundnose bullets in a .45 colt case and crimped it with a factory crimp die. it seemed to me that the crimp didnt really crimp very well. it looked like the bullet went in so far to reach the proper OAL that the crimp just followed the contour of the roundnose. i mean, it doesnt look bad (looks asthetically pleasing, actually), but im used to crimping into the side of 250 and 300 grain lead bullets.

can you use these bullets in a .45 colt load?

Sure can, but might want to use as midrange loads with unique. Don't expect best of accuracy unless you have slugged your barrel and find it is .452.

thanks man. its just plinking ammo, so im not too concerned about the accuracy.

i have been using bullseye in my .45 colt loads. since im shooting it in a SRH, mild loads should be pretty comfortable to shoot.
