SmilerHey thanks! I will be shooting a Ruger MK 77 Mark 2 SS with a 6.5 x 20 scope. I was planning on using Sierra 120 grain bullets and I love IMR-4064 powder!

I'm shooting an AI version so I won't give you the charge wts. but H4350, RL19 & IMR4831 have shown the best groups plus vel. I run the charges right below max. Groups run in the low 0.4s pretty regularly. If you are looking for pure accuracy, the 120grNBT & 123gr Lapua are great.

Out of the Sierra Manual, I tried the 40 grains of W 748 and I ended up with a one hole shooter....

So I stopped there in the 260 for that rifle....
Remington 700 VLS...

For the 100 grainers tho, I use a load of 4064....
43.5 grains for an MV of 3350 out of a 22 inch Ruger Barrel in Stainless Steel.... This load is a laser!
If the shooter does his part it is also a one hole shooter at 100 yds.

So 4064 is not a bad choice at all... It is the powder I recommend to start with for the 260, followed by RL 15.....

40 grains of RL 15 are also very accurate with 120 grain Ballistic tips in my Ruger 260s....

Cheers

BLOP, I have loaded 4064, but now i load RL-15. 42.0 grains with 120gr. sierra. with WLR primer. it is more accurate with higher volcity. 2944 from ruger 77 S.S. 22 in. 2940 shot over a croney. IF 308SAKO is using 34.0 grains of 4064 that is a very mild load. MAX with that powder is 39.0 in my books. LOOK in the reloading section on this web site and find .260 rem they have some very good loads.

Yes it is a mild load, but it is what that rifle likes... I am going to try some of the 760/120's and see if that helps this little rifle out. Good thread guys. Hold tight

PS of sorts, the same 34/4064/140 works to 1/2 MOA as well.

SmilerYeah I realize that each rifle will like what it wants but thanks for all the good info and hope I can get this .260 to shoot at least .500 at 100 yards. If I can obtain that it would be ok for me. Man would be great to shoot less than 1.000 at 200 like Steve!
