<lokey>My favorite 7Mag load: A bunch of RE 22 pushing a 140 Nosler B-Tip @ just a tad under 3400. Mine is a 7 Weatherby, but they're pretty much the same thing. Shoots flat, hits REAL hard, and recoil is managable. ~lokey

<sure-shot>IMR7828 or RL22 behind Nosler's 160gr Partition. Excellent penetration(clean thru). I took my largest black bear(a 600lb behemoth B&C) with this bullet. One shot at about 100yds, he took 3 steps and went down. Second shot was used but not necessary. Good for bull elk also-similar results if you place em in the right spot. Good long range results, used Fed 215 primers always. Farthest game shot was mule deer buck at 430 paces, went about 20yds and dropped over. I sold my 7mag but still dream about building one. sure-shot

DutchNorma brass, Fed 210, 140gr. XLC over a pile of RL19. Well sub-moa, 3400 fps plus, and eat to the hole. Can't beat that combination. FWIW, Dutch.

beemanbemeI use 160gr grand slams for everything. cci magnum primers, rp brass, coupla pounds of imr4350. (just kidding about the "coupla pounds of 4350") Its not much more than a single pound. :-)

<monyhunter>I have shot deer with a....
Speer 145
Nosler 140 BT
Rem core lokt 140
Barnes 140 XLC BT
So far my most impressive kill was with the Barnes X. At about 180 yards it penetrated about 3 feet of muscle, bone and hide to put a nice whitetail down.

Rob1SGI love my 7mm. However, I put it away this deer season after a favorite load destroyed a 100 lb doe with two shots. The load was 162 BT Hornady atop of 65.5gr of RL22 in a Norma case with Fed 215 primer. Great at long range but I was hunting a area where the longest shot was 100 yds. I took my 6mm Rem. and the results were much better.

SeanI used a 140gr Nosler Balistic tip and RL 22, it was going about 3200 fps. I shot a deer at about 80 yards, instant death. The deer was sort of facing me and when he put his head down I let him have it. He droped dead in his tracks. I found the jacket of the bullet under the skin near his groin, when I field dressed him. There was a perfect little hole where the bullet went in but when I skinned it I found a hole about the size of a baseball.

<Bill>My favorite load is anything with the 175 Hornady spire point.
I am not that found of the partition, nor the Barnes X in that weight.
My least favorite load (I know you did not ask) is the 160 Aframe with 66.0 grains of RL22 for 3077 out of a custom Weatherby.

<zyepod>I've been shooting my 7MAG for around 10yrs. now and have killed my limit every year. Every deer, and I mean every deer I've shot has died instantly...dropped in it's tracks with the exception of one and it ran about 10 yards. I've shot them in the neck, butt, chest, head, etc. I've shot them at 40 yards to 175 yards. I use the 140gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip, RL-19 powder, Fed. 215 primer at about 3200-3300fps. Although I must admit the bullet does explode. I know this is not what people want for their bullets, but I just can't make myself change given the results I've had.

Major CaliberOnly shot deer with my 7mm Rem mag, but the Hornady Custom 139gr bt, has been amazing on every deer, from 80yds to 280yds, all have died instantly, the bullet always exits. This load chrons at 3200fps from my 26" barrel Win stainless steel classic, shoot's 3/4" at 100yds.

fredj338I like heavier bullets in the mags. I load the 160gr NP o/ RL22 for 3000fps+. Meat destruction isn't that bad on deer & antelope w/ good penetration on elk size game.
