RugerNiner.223 Powder???
I'm new to reloading.
I've been reloading 63 grain Sierra bullets with approxamatly 25.5 grains of Varget.
Is there a better powder to use?
I don't like the long grains in the Varget.
Also I'm going to be loading Hornady 75 grain BT A-MAX bullets.
Any suggestions there?
All have CCI primers and will be shot out of a 1/7 barrel.

lookouthave yet to try varget in the 223. I use nothing but win 748, and have good success with it. Have also used bl-c2 but only a pound or two, cannot really judge it, but I am sur that there are lots of forum members who have lods of experience(pun intended).

ELKMAN2I tried Varget in mine and it did not like it, I use H335 and it is sub MOA with 55gr. VMAX

308SakoMost accurate load for me with the 75 gr A-Max is 23.5 VARGET. Shot in a 1/9 Colt CR6724. 10 shot groups under 1/2 inch, Pdogs at 1106 yards... was good nough.

Benchmark does it for me.A ball powder that meters beautifully.

jstevensH335 is the standard bearer for a .223, certainly works in mine.

TEANCUMI too struggled with the Varget in my .223 and found I could not get to the velocities that I wanted with that Powder. I switched to RL-7 and was amazed at the velocity and accruacy I got with it. I would recommend a try at the RL-7.
H335 ( ball powder , meters well )
Never tried this under bullets over 60 Gr. , but it has worked really well under just about everything for me.
H4895 ( stick powder , slightly smaller grained than Varget , meters better for me than Varget , YMMV )

It is fine grained, but last I looked it wasn't ball powder.
