nvmichaelSame load for Lead / Jacketed Bullet
Barring the leading factor, when you see a load for a 100gr(for instance) jacketed bullet and a 100gr (for instance) lead bullet,
Can you use the same powder charge.
Thanks.

fredj338Unless you are running @ a max. load, I have never had a problem interchanging loading data for any cartridge/bullet combo. As long as you are working under the max. load, there just isn't that much diff. between a 125gr Hornady, Speer, etc. or lead bullet. You'll find, in pistol calibers at least, that the same charge under a lead bullet yields a bit higher vel. than the same weight jacketed. So you can drop you load just a bit w/ lead bullets & get comparable vel.

A load of 35gr. 4198 behind a 297gr. gas checked bullet in a 35 Remington might be just great.

the same caliber and charge with a Jacketed bullet of thee same weight could be dangerous or at least damageing.roger
