Reloading the 458 Win Mag?
I just purchased all of my reloading equipment and am patiently awaiting its arrival.

To pass the time I have been reading every article I can find about reloading for a 458 win mag. I purchased a used RCBS 3 Die set. My question is do I also need a crimping Die to crimp Full Power Loads? If so which one?
If you load bullets with a crimp groove, you can use the seating die to crimp. Just do seating and crimping in separate steps, makes it much easier to achieve consistent quality.
If your bullets do not have a groove, you can buy a separate factory crimp die. Personally, I prefer a bullet with a proper crimp groove and a heavy roll crimp from the normal seating die.

big_footI'm new to this forum, so first off G'day all. It's a pleasure to be aboard. Ton's of good info here.
I'll second the preference for a crimp groove. Currently my only 458 WM is a Ruger N0. 1 so it's not an issue of the rounds 'jumping the crimp', IMO it's just a smarter practice for any heavier recoiling rifle (or handgun for that matter).
