For Velocity and Punch?

44 grains of H 414, Large Rifle Primer, Speer 105 gr SP>

Velocity of 3250 in a 24 inch barreled Winchester Model 70.

Rifle has chamber reamed out so that bullet to can be seated to magazine length.

Accurate and sure does the job.

Sierra 100gr spitzer game kings and 35gr IMR 4064.

This is the load my family uses between a Savage, Rem 700, Rem model 7, and Rem pump. We could work up a laod for each rifle but then we would have the hassle of keeping them seperate. For the informal shooting my family does it is plenty accurate. They work very well on whitetail deer and if I do my part they make nice tite groups. Out of a standard sized rifle they have enough umph to drop steel rams at 500m. They just kind of flop over, but with a Rem model 7 it takes a coupel of hits to topple a 500m ram.

Because of the cost of the Siera bullets I am starting to work up a load with the bulk remington 100gr bullets that Midway ususally has for a good price.

Any make of brass, any make of mag primers, 39.5 grain of IMR 4350 and Speers 105 round nose. Pure death on deer, and most accurate I've used in two rifles.

ARKYPETE---have you ever used that combination, but with the Hornady 100 grain Round nose?? I have "rediscovered" the round nose and been using them in different calibers..accuracy to a T.

Good load Jimbo!

Love when guys " rediscover" Round Noses.

sort of like the christians who respond to the "born again" crowd: My belief in Christ was never dead.

Maybe the manufacturers will start making more again.

Like the Speer 275 grain SMP in 338 bore, or a 225 grain RN in 8 mm bore.

Or Sierra returning to the 100 gr SMP again.

Or Speer with the mentioned 105 grain RN.

Because all these other guys think they are better off with a new " premium" bullet for their new Super Short Mag, or their New Ultra Mag.
