I have a M96 Swede, Sporterized, with a re-contoured 22" barrel. This gun shoots 140 grain Rem Core Lokt handloads into sub MOA very well. I am looking to add to the versatility of this rifle by developing a lighter load like the 100 grain Partition or Ballistic Tip.
Will they stabilize in the Swede?
Looking to hear any and all experiences with this weight range of bullets in similar rifles.

I've had acceptable accuracy in my Remington classic with the 100 grain bt. My only experience with an animal was a short broadside shot into a small blacktail buck. No exit but bullet held together and there was little meat damage. Bullet was found resting against offside shoulder. I've got a bunch of 125 grain partitions I'm using this year but as of now no luck finding a shootable buck.

I tried loading some 100 gr partitions in my Win M70 XTR Featherweight Swede. Was hoping for 3100 or therabouts (Thinking a 257 Bob with versatility to go to bigger bullets). Bullets were too short for the throat. OAL of 2.94 with .18 sticking in the case to hold the bullet. Left me with about .20 freebore. Bullets did not like the freebore.

However, I then found I could push 130 TSX's to the low 2900's with excellent accuracy. Problem solved.

Other things equal the Nosler Ballistic tip at 100 grains would be a good bullet to try in a long throated rile like the 6.5X55 Sweede. This is because the BT is longer for a given weight than the conventional jacketed bullets.

The lighter bullets should shoot well.

I'm using the Northfork 120 HP.....helluva bullet!!!
