SaeedRe: 460 Weatherby Reduced Loads Need
hiredgun,
Welcome to the forum.
We have used UNIQUE in our reduced loads in the 460 Weatherby - and I imagine many of the pistol powders would work too.
I suggest you start with around 25 grains, and work up from there.
You have to use some sort of filler on top of the powder. We used tissue paper, and it works fine.

hiredgunThanks for the lead. In the past, I think I remember SR 4759 being recommended for reduced loads. Any experience with something like that? Ideally I would like something that I do not have to use filler but any advice is appreciated. Do you think 25gr of Unique will work with the 405 grn bullet? Thanks again.

Savage99Use loads for the 458 Winchester. That and a chronograph should do it from there.

hiredgunDoes anyone have a reduced load for the 460W? Ideally I would something similar to a strong 45/70 load for targets and maybe whitetails. I have access to some 405 Remington Corelokts or could buy some other bullets. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Try and raise Mike 375 as he has lots of experience with this.

steve505i am using Accurate's XMP5744 in my 416 Rigby. The powder was develop for large bore cases using reduced loads without filler.
For the 460 Wby. Per their manual #2 for 455g lead bullet, 26" barrel:
5744_40g_1520fps_?? starting load
5744_65g_2192fps_48.8kpsi max load
rgds,
steve
edited to clarify the load was for 460 wby.
