ty_falconpowder for ar-15
I have used 748 in the 223 for a long time now with good results until now. I'm trying the 55 gr v max and not getting the results I want. I am getting good groups with the 50 vmax and 55 fmj.
I'm not trying to start a big debait, but is there a better or more used powder for the AR? I'm quite set in my ways, but I'm willing to try some different powders.I just dont want to go buy a can of each to try. I do have varget and h-335 to try. So what are you'r opinions? Thanks

ramrod340I use Accurate 2230 and 2460 in mine. The 60s seem to like 2460. Everything else is 2230.
As usual just my $.02

mgoodrichI use H335 with a 50gr nos BT as well as the 50gr vmax, 26.5gr. Works well in my AR's.
I have also tried BLC-2 and that works as well also.
I have tried varget, and it was okay, just the loads I was trying were considered compressed loads and I don't like to do that with stick powder.

308SakoNothing works as well for me as VV 530 with the lighter .224 bullets. Velocity is way above other powders in my rifles without pressure issues, longer brass life and clean burning.

tiggertateThere are so many good choices its hard to pin one down. I like VV 135 with Sierra 52 gr Matchkings.

Phil NI used 748 until I got a jug of IMR 8208 XBR. I'll stick with that now. Better accuracy, velocity and it cycles the action fine. It also seems to be cleaner.

I brought several pounds of this powder to try to work up AR loads, looking forward to good results.

BISCUTAccurate 2230 has worked very well for me with up to 69gr SMK's. I've used H355 which was pretty good, and for the heavier offerings I use Varget and BL-C2.
But Accurate 2230 has given me excelelnt results in AR as well as 223AI bolt gun.
Happy shooting!

GLShooterI like AA 2015, 2230 or 2460. RL 10 is also one that shines with the 50/55 weights for me. The FASTEST I have is AA2200 that is now available through Powder Valley last I checked. Phenomenal speed and pressures seem good.

SamI've been running 25 grains of H335 for 52 grain and Varget for 77 grain SMK's. I've heard good things about TAC with 77's.

Doc224/375The AR's I own an have owned did very well with Blc-2 ,H335 either of the 4895's , 4064 Varget and I know people who swear by Accurate powders . I've used them but not to any extent in my AR's .
I've had my best accuracy with BLC-2 IMR 4895 an H335 in that order . As We all know , that doesn't account for anything because no two rifles are the same .So many other factors are involved in the accuracy issue and powder is only a minuscule portion of the total equation .

QuintusAbsolutely love BlC(2) for accuracy and velocity, but it is dirty.

I think it will make you very happy.
It also works very well in my Savage 22-250 with 50gr and 55gr vmax's.

TripletDadI use TAC for my 53 & 77gr SMK loads and for loading up 55gr milspec bullets. I use Varget for 69gr SMK.

Just curious, why Tac for 53's and 77's but not 69's?
