p dog shooter,
I am using 19.5 grains of H-110, (over maximum in some reloading manuals--SO, be careful)the Lyman 429650 (315-320 grains), and a CCI-350 primer for an average velocity of 1258 fps when fired from a 'scoped Ruger Super Redhawk 9.5 incher. Accuracy is at the 2"+ mark at 100 yards when fired from a very good bench rest. Recoil is also quite noticable!!! Good-luck...BCB

I'll try some of it. Iam getting just over 1100 with a 310 with blue dot out of my 5.5 redhawk. Just needed a starting point none of my older reloading manuals show any h110 with heavy cast bullets.

I'll have to load a few and run them over the crony and see what they are doing. I'll post the results in a day or so.
thanks

Pdog, I think H110 or W296 are a bit better for the heavy LFP. Here's a link: www.hodgdon.com/data/pistol/44remmag.php

20.5gr of H110 under the Lee 310 wide flat nose crimped to the top goove to feed through my carbine gave 1575 fps from the 18.5 inch barrel and would penitrate like nothing. Never crono'd it from my Blackhawk, they hurt too much from that to fire them if I didn't have to.

22grs. of 296(same as H110) Fed. magnum primer with 330gr Penn (SSK type)hardcast, 1400fps out of 7" Redhawk, I'm using the lower crimp groove with a Redding profile crimp, very accurate even with open sights. Jay

I think I'd stick around the 20.5gn range. Remember that seating depth make a big difference in revolver rounds. I used to shoot a 330gn cast to 1500fps from my 7.5" SRH, the same load went 1550 from a 7.5 SBH. The velocities sound high, but that is what we measured. They should do fine in your Ruger, but I wouldn't try them in a Smith.

BlueDot is way too fast for heavy 44mag loads. The pressure can get out of hand in a big hurry.

Results with 310 gr lee bullet h110 powder.
18grs 1100fps
19grs 1170 fps
19.5 1200 fps
20grs 1300 fps
Out of a Ruger red hawk 5.5in With the big jump in Vel between the 19.5 and 20gr loads I decide to stop. No signs of pressure cases came out easy with all the loads. I'll have to shoot some groups to see what is the best.

No gas check lube with lee lube no signs of leading.
