30-30 Seating depth
I just started reloading for a 30-30. The gun is a new Marlin 336. I'm going to be loading the normal flat nose bullets for it, but I wanted to use some leftover spire points to break it in a little and get it on the paper. I'll be loading them one at a time, but I'm wondering about the seating depth. If I seat the bullet to the cannelure, will that be O.K.? This puts the C.O.L a lot longer than a flat nose. I assumed it wouldn't matter given the difference in bullet construction. Thanks for the help.

You can load them longer for single loading. actual length will depend on the shape of the point. You do not want it to be so long it engraves on the rifling-- that will drive up pressure and make it very hard to close the action. Youl will have to play with the length a bit.
