Necking 7mm up to 375....a better way?
I'm so damn sick of fooling around necking up 284 brass to 375 for my rifle by using a .311 and .338 neck expanders, then the 375/284 die!! I just about pull my reloading bench over (yes, the inside of the necks are well lubed) Just now, out of 10 rounds, I got 4 good ones!! I know someone makes neck expanders with a range of, say, 30 to 35 cal or 30 to 375 cal. Where do I get one?????

Yes, several companies make tapered expanders, and you badly need one (or more). I think Redding is your best bet.

Have you tried using pistol powders and a filler to blow them out? I've done that with some 6.5mm up to 35 caliber, works well once you figure out the correct charge. I used red dot and a toilet paper wad, with a wax plug to keep it in place.

Buffalo Arms sells 284 Straight wall basic brass. 2.4" long will allow you to do big bores without worrying about thin necks.

OLD4X4,
I think your problem is because your attempting to do it in one jump. Sinclair has a tapered sizing button that works well for me. I's think the 8mm would be a good half way point. I hope that this helps.

Bigbob, I'm going from 284 to 311 to 338. The 338 to 375 jump is what's killing the cases. I've probably done 2-300 cases.
The thin necks aren't a problem because I had RCBS make me a custom die, but that 284 cylindrical is a good idea. Also, I checked the Redding website and found the tapered expanders. Thanks
