win 231 and 44mag ?
my old hornady book third edition says max of 8.7 gr behind 240 lswc.

a newer book i have says 11.0 grains behind the same bullet. Now like an idiot, before i consulted my hornady book, i already had loaded according to the newer book. Is this overloaded, should i pull these bullets.

i shoot 231 in a 44 smith, and get good results I use a heavy crimp
Test the load and if you get a sticky extraction. I would back down 1/2 a grain.

well the hornady 4th says 8.2 Grs of 231 is max for 1000 Fps for a 7 1/2 inc Ruger super Blackhawk OAl is 1.610. I also checked the Wincheaster Load data and it says 11.o GRs of 231 is max for 1285 fps from a 6 1/2 BBL OAL is 1.610. so accordng to the powder maker your already at max charge.

The only 231 I have ever shot out of a .44 was 5.0 grains behind the Lyman 429248, a 200-grain full wadcutter. It was a super plinking load...
