338 WIN MAG 210gr Loads
Folks: I keep hearing nothing but good things about subject bullet combo on a wide variety of game. Coupled with my view that when it comes to the Cats, "speed does kill" so I am considering using that combo on leopard in the future instead of the 250gr. Looking for inputs for good load data. thanks, jorge

I get right at 3000fps with a max load of H414 and the 210. Shoots sub MOA in my Ruger.

The load is about 1.5 grs above the Nosler book. My COL is longer and it is the max shown by Loadtech.

As usual just my $.02

I use H-4831 for a chronographed 3005 FPS...I have shot elk, plainsgame including several Eland, deer and a wounded Lion with the 210 Nosler..I am of the opinnion it actually penetrates deeper than the 250 gr. bullet albeit that is because the front end blows off on ocassion but I have absolutly no problem with that as it spews a lot of stuff around inside them and then the base punches out the other side....

I tried most of the available bullets on game at one time or another and I have settled on two loads in my Custom .338 Mauser....The 210 Nosler at 3005 FPS and the 300 gr. RN Woodleigh at almost 2500 FPS..The 210 is plus 2.5 at 100 adn the 300 is dead on...

The 300 Woodleigh is almost equal to the .375 in killing power on big game like Buffalo. It has the same weight, more Sectional Density equal velocity, so it penetrates as well or better IMO...bottom side is it does not have that cross section of bullet that the .375 does and that is important IMO...

What will kill the leopard is a well placed shot with a quality soft bullet. I haven't shot a leopard with a 210gr nosler but did shoot one with a 250gr woodleigh that came apart and left a good portion of the shank in the cat, which was recovered. For that reason the nosler would be better. I do not recommend 250gr woodleigh softs and I don't give a damn how many buffalo were killed with the 300gr woodleigh softs. I had bad experience with them and I don't want anyone getting into serious trouble with dangerous animals. Use the Nosler or better yet North Forks for the leopard and give youself an edge. And yes my leopard died real sudden but the bullet didn't make me comfortable at all.

I like IMR4831 or RL19 or H4350 under the 210grNP, close to 3000fps.

I use IMR 4350, about 72 grains if memory serves me right. I get 3050 fps from my 26" barrel A-Bolt and .75 MOA accuracy with a 210 Partition. Wonderful medicine for huge elk !!! I personally think 4350 is the only powder you need for a .338 Win Mag.
