Anyone know of an IMR 4996 powder that was used in the 1940's and 50's?

El Deguello4895 was the principal IMR extruded powder used in military ammo in the '40's and 50's. Never heard of IMR 4996. It is not on any government ammo loading table I have ever seen, nor does it appear on any burning rate chart.

Agree. And, it seems to me that 4831 came along shortly after. Never heard of 4996 though.

missing_somethingMy reference material also refers to EX 4996 propellant, which I assume was the experimental name for what came to be as IMR 4996.
