300 RUM and 200 gr NP`s just for fun
as I have no need for such a load.I justwanted to know what it would do with the 200 gr bullets.
700 BDLSS,Shilen trigger,3.5-10x50 Leupold scope.Rem Brass and the Fed 210 GM primer with a BUNCH of RL25.3235 fps and shot just under .800.

You used a 210 primer? I always wanted to know what affect I would have using a 210 primer over a 215M in 300RUM. Could you verify?

I use the standard Fed 210 Match primer for all loads using the RL series of powders.

Mr. Big,

Nice load, I have found the 300 RUM to actually perform better with the 200 gr pills over the 180's, yet I still can not let my 180 gr Ballistic Silvertip at 3400 fps and nearly 1/2 moa groups go.

Your choice of primers is an interesting one. I would agree that in climates where the temp does not dip below freezing much, the 210M will work fine with the RL line of powders.

Up here in Montana where temps can often reach -10 to -20 below zero, I will keep my 215 primers.

One note of interest. My testing showed that when using identical loads, only changing primers from a 215 to the 215M, the match primer produced a full 80 fps on average less velocity then the standard primer with no improvement in extreme spread or S.D.

I feel the extra money spent on the match primers could be better spent on other things such as more powder and bullets.

Hell of a load, not much on the planet that load could not easily handle.

Good Shooting!!!

What exactly qualifies as a BUNCH ? I am thinking 93 gr or so...am I right?

The hornady Manual lists 92.2 as max with 190`s for 3200.it was hotter than that but not too awful much.I started at 91 and worked up till things got sticky and backed off 2.5 grs and got the load.

some of these SLOW powders are faster with heavier bullets than lighter ones.with 7828 and RL25 you can get 180`s just about as fast as 150`s.

Anybody else have good luck with 210 primers or simular instead of 215M or CCI250 or 9.5's? I might try this.
