snowmanShot a nice black bear a few years ago with the 350 gr Speer in my 416 Rem. Through both front shoulders. The bear moved about 2 ft.....straight down. The exit wound was incredible,I could just about stick my doubled up fist into the hole, not that I wanted to with all the bone fragments. Performance in your Ruger would be very similar.
I agree, the 350 Speer is excellent bear medicine. I use 76gr of IMR-8208 in my Ruger Alaskan.

Scott PowellI have been working on a 416 Ruger load for my Ruger Alaskan for several months now. I am loading the 350gr Barnes TSX with 74.0 grains of IMR4895 and WLRM primers. I am cutting cloverleafs at 75 yds off the bench and my 100 yard groups are under 1.5 inches center to center. Recoil is not bad at all, no pressure signs or brass issues. I bought 6 boxes of Hornady 400 gr DGS & DGX ammo - the recoil is very close to the same as my load, but my loads are shooting tighter groups - at least out of my rifle. I have not crony'd the load yet, will do that soon. So far I am very pleased with the 350 gr TSXs and plan on taking them in Sept for lioness and Buffalo along with plains game...
I will post pictures of the groups as soon as I can...

kala_azarJust picked up my 416 Ruger Alaskan yesterday, and I'm using Redding dies. What die are you all using to crimp for the 416? My gut says to have Lee make me a fitted FCD, but I'd appreciate others input.

Scott PowellI'm using the Hornady dies which have the crimper but I have also tested loading the magazine and firing all 3 rounds , checking each one left in the Mag and have not had any bullet movement in loads that I did nt crimp...
