Pros & Cons of loads that fill the case
In reloading some rifle cases, I've noticed that some recommended loads (like with H4831 or IMR 4350)fill the cases - some even into halfway into the neck. For instance 60gr of H4831 in a 30.06 case w/180gr SPBT.

The question: What are the pros and cons to having a full case load like this?

I'm not seeing any signs of pressure, no blackened case throats or primer bases. Good consistent groupings in all loads for 6.5mm,.308, .270, .303, & 30.06

I just noticed that in one round I took apart, after seating a 180gr in a 30.06 case for a C.O.L. of 3.255 that the powder (H4831SC) was packed down tight.

Pros as I see them-

More uniform for accuracy, theoretically less velocity variation

Impossible to double charge (don't laugh!)

Cons-

These loads usually cost more to shoot. Or even worse when you are loading up Saturday night and realize you only have a quarter can of whatever....

I see you are relatively new here, welcome to the board! I think you will find more information here than in a library of reloading manuals!

Also, I love your tagline! Isn't it the truth!
