PaseMkrAmerican Eagle .45 ACP primer size?
I've been saving brass from when I buy American Eagle Federal. 45 ACP at the range. I have cleaned the cases and am preparing to reload and it appears that these cases use small pistol primers rather than large pistol primers. Is this correct? Most of the charts, manuals and online reading that I have done, typically states that .45 ACP should use large pistol primers, so I just wanted to double check.

TEANCUMI was at a LGS a week or so ago and looking for some plinking ammo for a 45ACP. They had some Federal ammo available and the counter guy asked me if I reloaded to which I said yes. Then he told me that this batch had been loaded with small primers and pointed to the sign posted on the wall above the stack a notice that these rounds were with small primers. I thought it was cool that he would ask me and also that the store had posted a sign disclosing the ammo.
Apparently Federal made a run of small primer 45ACP ammo for some reason and most of it is languishing on the shelf for that reason.

If one has a progressive press these would surely gum up the works.
Funny this topic is on a few boards at once. It comes up often. A lot of the newer "lead free" primers are small not large.
To solve this in a progressive sort your brass and when you get enough small pockets make a run with it.
