Be careful with wipeout
Just went home for lunch and decided to change the wipeout in my barrel. What I found made me sick. I had plugged the chamber (so I thought) and had filled the barrel and walked away last night. Well, some of the foam leaked out of the gas port (Ruger 77 with tang safety) and onto my stock...stripped the finish right off clear down to where the liquid dripped off onto my loading bench.

The warning they give is accurate...this stuff will take a finish off in nothing flat.

Oh well, I guess it gives me a chance to mess around with the gun some more.

300winnie, sorry to hear that but thanks for the heads up.....I'll remember.....

Having that experience however....is that then a way to remove the old finish if one wants to refinish a stock?

just curious

Thanks again for the warning.

Don't feel too bad. I figured it out too with a medallion. Doesn't seem to do anything to synthetics. Thank goodness.

Someone came out to my house with a Trapdoor Springfileld and shot black powder.

Afterwards he wanted to clean the bore with soap and water, so I provided him with Simple Green, that took the finish off the stock.

He then asked for motor oil, rubbed it on the stock, it looked ok to me, and he went home happy.
