Who makes the most accurate beam scale for less than 100 grains?

I'm yet to read a bad review of Lee's beam scale that they ship with their starter kits. Just went through the process of acquiring reloading gear not too long ago, myself.

Welcome to the forums!

I'd hazard to say that most scales are close enough in accuracy that ultimately it is operator technique and care of your scale that determines accuracy. So get whatever you want, mount it on a solid bench, and keep it covered when not in use, and use a check weight occasionally and you'll be happy for a long time.

for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside

x2 Welcome.
I used an RCBS beam scale for many years and found as quoted above. I always set my dispenser shy and trickled into the pan to get perfection.
These days I'm using an electronic dispenser/scale combo.

I've used a cheap Lee and it's very accurate, but it can be difficult to read, what with two angled arrowheads opposite each other to line up.

I can't explain it any better than that, but take a look and decide for yourself.

Dad has an RCBS 10-0-10 or something and I don't trust it any more, because he's had to put weights in the bottom of the pan to make it balance properly, which makes me wonder about the knife edges ..... (But he bought it in the 70's so it's had a good innings).

That said, buy any one of the red, orange or green ones you see - they'll all outlast you if you look after them.

Ohaus 10-10. They used to make the RCBS scales but I don't know if they still do.

Bren,

Might be tricky from OZ, but send your dad's scale back to RCBS. I sent a 1970's model back to them a couple of years ago and got it back in great shape. They stand behind their products.

As you otherwise said, any of the new ones work and take care of it, it will not have to be replaced.

Thanks Don,

I would do that, but Dad's back in SOuth Africa .... he's over 80 and I think he's scared he wouldn't get it back before he died. Smiler

Nowadays, BTW, I use one of those Lyman DPS-3 gadgets - what a godsend for my style of rifle reloading.

For pistol I just use Lee scoops......
