confused about O.A.L.
Reloading .223's. Where do they get the dimensions for OAL in the load books. For .223 it's 2.260, is this a standard. I used the hornady OAL gauge in my chamber, set it 'til the bullet touched the lands and subtracted .030 for my OAL. the bullet is seated about 3/4's in the neck. Does this add up or seem about right? Round seems to chamber fine. My OAL is 2.325.

Ol` JoeThe OAL in most books is the SAAMI max lenght that will fit in any SAAMI spec magazine and has no real bearing on where the leade is in relation to the bullets ogive. Stay with the measured lenght you found and you will be fine if the rounds will fit your mag.
