Have a Question?-Help
I have reloaded for a number of years ,mostly straight wall cases. I am now relaoding for a 308 and have run into a problem that I'm having a tough time figuring out. After full length sizing the brass,I went to put it in my Wilson brass trimmer and it won't fit in the shell holder. Its the right one ,the brass seems to have expanded at the very bottom of the case ,about 1/4 in up from the rim. A new shell drops right in. I have adjusted the die(RCBS) according to the instructions. I have raised and lowered the die with no success. What am I doing wrong!? --Thanks for all answers---Steve

1Longbow :
Are you using the Wilson 308 new caseholder(part number W308H-N) or the 308 fired caseholder(part number W308H)?
Beleive it or not there IS a difference. Well I guess you found that out.
Check with your supplier.
Not all cartridges take two caseholders, but many do. Just a quirk of the L E Wilson trimming system.

ps I think the Wilson trimmer is the best system. IMHO

Muck, Thanks for your responds,I went and checked and the case holder IS for fired cases. Any other ideas? --Thanks very much for your help.---Steve

Chamber sizes vary, as do dies and Wilson shell holders. Make sure you are sizing your cases correctly - i.e. bumping the shoulder about 0.001 - 0.002" and no more (I swear by a headspace gauge to establish this). If sized correcly, the cases still don't fit the shell holder, contact Wilson. I believe they will make you a shell holder off your brass...

You might have an oversized chamber(diameter at the base) you might try a small based die/just a thought.
