RamboLooking for heavy pills for .338 Lapua
Everyone knows of the 300gr Sierra, but is there anything else out there that has heavy weight and high B.C. that can be found?

phurley5My son, grandson and I shoot a .338 Lapua, each having taken Elk with it. Our "go to" bullets are the 225 grain and 240 grain North Fork. In out opinion, they cannot be beat. We debate amongst ourselves which weight bullet is best, I sware by the 240, they favor the 225. I think it is a matter of the confidence of the shooter. My son took a 6X6 Bull Elk in Kentucky this year that scored 359 4/8 with the 225 North fork going 3100 fps, a bang flop at 220 yards. Good shooting.

Tyler KempAre you looking for hunting or just shooting bullets?
Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too!
Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.

lawndartBerger just announced their 300 grain HPBT yesterday at the SHOT show. That will be something.
Unless Lapua has released a new bullet (very possible) their Scenar line in .338 stops at 250 grains.

lawndartThanks for that reminder Gerard.
The 338 Lapua Magnum requires a 1:10" twist to properly stabilize 300 grain bullets.
The Sako TRGS 42 in .338 Lapua Magnum is made in a 1:12", unless they have changed it this year in time for the SHOT show.
The AICS rifle in .338 Lapua Magnum has a 1:10" twist.
I am not sure about the Armalite AR-30 or the Blaser LLRS-2. Soryy about that.
