scrap brass?

do you throw it away or salvage.
what price does the scrap man pay per pound.
or whats it worth?
I have a 5gal bucket full and thought I would get rid of it.

We're getting about .75 a lb in someplaces around Phoenix. We usually sell about 100 lbs a year.

Last time I sold I had 106 lbs and got $.66 per lb as I recall (they pay more if you have 100 lbs +). That was deprimed but not cleaned brass that I had picked up at the range (about 16 gallons of it). I have about 6 gallons accumulated now, and have not de-primed it as I think I'll get about the same price and save me the effort (ever think about how many .223 cases it takes to make a pound of brass?).

i called the scrap man and he quoted me a price of $1.20/ lb. Im goin over that way in a minute see if the price holds.
I only have 18 lds.
looks like a pound of powder.

A thought !!! how much does 100 .223 cases weigh? What do you pay for a 100 new .223 cases?

roge, if i have to jusify the expense i would have to quit..
the brass if give up ows me nothing.
it has been reloaded to the its end.
I figure around .20 per case

I scrap mine. You can find the quote ususally in the newspaper under "Yellow brass". (cartridge brass is over 40% zinc) As of two weeks ago it was 78 cents a pound.
Copper took a big hit last week though, so i'm sure it's dropped some. FYI - a 5 gallon bucket @ .78/pound = $42.00!!
