Burleyboy338-06 loads?
I'm in the process of putting together a 338-06, should be done around New Years. It's on a stainless Ruger 77 MkII action (decided not to tear apart one of my 1908 Brazilians) with a shilen SS 24" #3 contour 1:10 twist. I'm looking for a good combo deer/elk/black bear load for Idaho and Utah.
I'm thinking of a 210 grain partition or a 225 grain hornady interlok but am open to suggestions. Would like to get around 2700+ fps, any ideas?? I have several powders on hand including all The Reloaders, most of the Hodgdon, IMR7828,4831,4350,3031, and a few AA, WW, and Ramshot powders. I have lots of H414, H4350, and WW760 that I have a feeling might work well, are they good places to start? Just ordered redding dies.
thanks,
Burley

<eldeguello>IMR 4320 is about the optimum powder for this round. I don't have any data here by the computer right now, but have you looked at
www.stevespages.com/page8a.htm ? He lists it as the .338/'06 A-Square.

vapodogeither of those bullets should do the job nicely.....and IMR4064 will move either of them to 2'700'/sec with ease as will RL15
