I am going to th range with my new gun and my gunsmith has not reamed my comp 280 rem seater with my 280AI reamer, so I want to load some ammo up with the regular redding 280 rem seater, will there be a problem?

It may not be ideal, but I'm sure you can do it.

Hornady, for example, makes each of its seating dies caliber, not cartridge specific....for example, my 300 RUM or 30-06 can be seated by the same die as it only fits the neck and bullet, not case and shoulder. I seat 375 H&H with the same Hornady die as 375 Ruger--adjusted as needed, of course.

As long as the shoulder doesn't interfere you should be ok.

Competition seaters support the case body and rest on the shoulder. With the different taper on the case body and angle on the shoulder you might have a problem. At the very least, it would not be the best seater you could use although it might get the job done.

For my 280AI I went ahead and sprung for a Redding Competition 280AI seater.

i've got redding 6.5x.257 and 6.5x.257AI dies the std seater won't allow an AI shell far enough into the die. when i rechambered to AI, i originally ordered just the sizing die in AI., thinking i would be able to seat bullets with the std. die....can't do it... the die indexes on the shoulder to force the neck to expand concentricly and accept the bullet while the shoulder keeps the case centered in the die untill the mouth opens against the walls of the neck area in the die.
